What is SAC?

What is SAC?

SAC stands for Students for an Accessible Community.

SAC is a group created within Access Allies of Bloomington-

Normal for students aged 10 to 18 years old who are

interested in disability issues.

What do you do?

SAC has monthly meetings where we discuss a disability

related topic, enjoy some snacks and hang out and have

fun. Every couple months we also have special SAC Events

and many SAC members volunteer for LIFE Center’s

Puppet Troupe- The Kids on the Block.

What are the SAC Events?

APRIL: SAC participates in LIFE Center’s Wheelathon as the SAC Racers

JUNE: SAC will have a team at the Relay for Life

JULY: SAC’s annual 4th of July Cook Out

August: SAC will have a booth at the McLean County Fair

September: SAC‘s annual back to school Fall Fling

October: SAC handles the kid events for AABN’s Parenting & Disabilities Expo

November: SAC attends AABN’s Holiday Party

January: SAC‘s annual Blizzard Bash

Where and When?

SAC generally meets the first Monday of every month after school for about an hour throughout the school year. Most meetings are now being held at Normal West High School in Mrs. Collins room, or the Kelly/Mayberry home at 1709 Cook Dr. in Normal (near Parkside Junior High) You can check the website: www.accessallies.org/sac for a detailed schedule or call 309-451-4497.
